A quick check up for 2012!
by Chris Giordano on Feb.04, 2012, under In-Betweens
Hello folks,
Hoping you are all doing well, it’s been a while since my last post. I’ve been out having many adventures lately that haven’t had me near my camera as much as usual. Still, I continue to upload new work to the website as I shoot it, along with checking through my archives for undiscovered gems from previous journeys. Recently some footage from a 2008 trip to Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks made its way to the new TravelChannel television show “Got Home Alive,” a new show wherein everyday individuals regale viewers with their stories of surviving often-unsurvivable situations. Nice to see one’s work on TV and have a credit at the end. ![]()
I have made quite a lot of music lately, check me out on SoundCloud if you have not yet. Furthermore, my collection of beautiful bonsai trees continues to increase with the few new trees I’ve worked on recently: namely another Japanese Boxwood; I’ve really enjoyed working with these in bonsai as they are very tolerable and responsive, as well as a Mound San Bruno Coffeeberry, a large Sunset Manzanita, and a cute Emerald Coast Manzanita mini-bonsai!
For now, I leave you all with some imagery to enjoy.
Take care folks

NEW VIDEO – Boxwood Bonsai (Filmed on HTC Sensation 4G Droid Smartphone)
by Chris Giordano on Oct.04, 2011, under Adventures
Morning folks! Sorry posts have been so sporadic here but I’ve been doing a lot of AWESOME things lately! There have been camping trips, leading to “Adventures in the World of Giants”, there have been many time lapses shot, leading to updates in “Time Lapse 2011: Momentum”, and even more recently I’veĀ been getting into the process of creating bonsai trees – thanks to much imparted knowledge from my skilled roommate) – and I had just recently upgraded my phone to a new Android smartphone, the HTC Sensation 4g, which boasts a full HD 1080p video mode, and so I chose to test it out…
“Boxwood Bonsai”
Bonsai by Wise
Filmed on the HTC Sensation 4G Android smartphone over a quick 45 minute bonsai session.
Time lapse filmed on Canon 7d.
We love making movies and, of course, doing bonsai.
Today, Joe swiftly bonsais a beautiful Japanese Boxwood – a shrub often grown and shaped as hedges in yards. He begins by removing the tree from its original container and tackling a colossal, uncooperative rootball. He then preps the soil mixture and fills the pot, and finally places, structures, and grooms the Boxwood bonsai. As the evening comes to a close, more pruning and shaping could be done, however, with the setting sun and pending darkness he sensed an appropriate time to let the tree rest. In the days, months, and years to come, Joe will continue tending to the Boxwood Bonsai himself, or perhaps sell the enticing piece to another person who can appreciate and care for it; also allowing him to continue his exquisitely unique bonsai creations. Either way, he hopes to ensure a long, happy life for this tree in a pot.
I set up a nice little time lapse with my Canon 7d just before he started, to document the process. However, shortly after I remembered that I had wanted to try out the 1080p video on my new Droid phone, the HTC Sensation 4g, so I grabbed it and started capturing some footage….45 minutes went by fast! I’m quite pleased with the results.
Hope you enjoy viewing as much as we did creating

Adventures in the World of Giants

Hi everyone, haven’t posted in quite a while. Here’s an awesome and fun multimedia piece featuring video, still images, and time lapses from a trip to Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks here in California with my roommate and his good friend from back home in North Carolina.
Enjoy!!
Fun little multimedia piece featuring photos, videos, time lapses, and action time lapses, of adventures with two friends in Sequoia & Kings Canyon National Parks here in California. Many roads were under construction in the park, yet they were still overloaded with endless amounts of people! But, more importantly, the sights were beautiful; the trees – from various pines, cedars, firs, oaks & small shrubs, to the mighty giant sequoia – were all a humbling sight to behold, the meadows were green and lush, and mountains were awe-inspiring, and we spotted plenty of birds, small rodents, a few deer, and a young brown bear. Furthermore, the weather was fantastic; warm in the day and just slightly cooler in the evening
Support our parks!!! Hope you enjoy!

Ten years and counting.
by Chris Giordano on Sep.11, 2011, under Uncategorized
Good morning all,
It’s been ten years since the September 11, 2011 operation that took the lives of thousands of civilians. Plenty of good articles and images to look at regarding the attacks, so I won’t keep you here. Stay busy but peaceful today. I’m going to take advantage of this totally overcast Southern California weather and get some soft-shadow time lapses of the gigantic 137 year old Moreton Bay Fig here in Ventura. These will help tie off a little time lapse project on the tree so I can finally share it with everyone!
Final Cut Pro X available in the Apple Store
by Chris Giordano on Jun.21, 2011, under In-Betweens
Morning everyone,
Apple has made Final Cut Pro X available for purchase at $299 in the Apple Store. This new version is completely different in terms of layout and processing….it will take some getting used to, however, the playback, rendering, included effects, etc., so far are pretty sweet! The way projects are handled is quite different too, being based on more of an iMovie, “Event” based, structure.
*NOTE* You cannot import your projects from older versions of Final Cut Pro (at least I can’t from FCP 6); there may be some workarounds through exporting XML and importing that…but I’m not too sure.

Action Time Lapses
by Chris Giordano on May.04, 2011, under Adventures
Hi everyone,
As most of you are aware I have been focusing a lot on creating beautiful time lapse imagery, primarily of nature – sunsets and such, however, I’ve also really want to create what I like to call Action Time Lapses. These time lapses are most often handheld, lots of movement, following a subject, and the lower frame rate (compared to video) provides a different….cadence to the footage, if you will. A nice blend of photography and videography to document good times in a new way.
“Last Friday at Big Wangs”, and “Wandering the Coast” are the first tests of my ATLs (Action Time Lapses); they aren’t crazy productions, just good times with friends. I had A LOT of fun making them and I think they turned out great. I hope you enjoy them!
